Re Mike MIgnolaHellboy/BPRD universe - There's not going to be happy ending... is there?

The situation for the earth and humanity in BPRD just gets ever darker and more hopeless with each episode.

Been reading this series for a while and there really does not seem to be any way out. The demons/frogspawn etc. are pretty much dug in and taking over and there is no large sale hope on the horizon. Seem like the series is pointing toward a conclusion in the near future.

This is not going to be fairy tale ending is it?

I can’t see how this can end well… I’ve always hoped it was just an “alternate universe” and not the “real” Hellboy universe.

Still, it’s good stuff! Skyscraper-sized Lovercraftian ickies!

Starting in September: Hell on Earth: End of Days.

Doesn’t look good for us.

The Hellboy universe has had some decent movie success per the below so I do wonder what the movie people are thinking as the world ending in Lovecraftian hellfire and people being demon chow is going to be a bit of a tough sell as the end of a summer action movie.

I’ve been enjoying Hellboy’s recent adventures in Hell. Much more cheery.

Pretty sure they don’t give a shit. The movies (particularly the second) didn’t try particularly hard to follow the comics. If they ever make a third one, they’ll probably just write their own plot. Even if they want to go all faithful to the source material, they’ve got reams of material to work with that doesn’t touch on what’s happening in BPRD.

I’d love to see an animated anthology series with a bunch of solo Hellboy adventures throughout the years using the same Mignola-style art from “The Amazing Screw-On Head”.

The two animated features that already exist had a lot of great moments, but they still weren’t quite there.

I didn’t even know there were new Hellboy comics. Thanks! I’ll check 'em out.
