I seem to remember reading some article a long time back about (not necessarily blind)people who claimed to be able to read ordinary printed text with their fingertips alone (by some kind of supernatural method) and that it was something that anyone could learn to do.

Does anyone know where I can find more information about this? (NB: I’m not for one moment entertaining the notion that such a thing actually works - otherwise they would have sucked Randi dry, wouldn’t they?)

I think Daredevil could do this.

That endorsement alone is enough to make me think the idea is hooey.

I don’t think I will reveal too much that magicians want to keep secret, so this is what they do: they cheat.

As to how they do it: They peek down the side of their noses (according, of course, to James Randi).
