Firefox for Android keeps changing the font size in a single thread. Some of it is very legible, and then other posts are about 1/5 the size. Is there a better way to experience the board on my phone?
I use Tapatalk, and I think it’s pretty good. It’s available from the Play Store. It’s not a free app, but I think there may have been a free trial version when I first started using it.
I’ve been forcing the phone into landscape mode to view threads but it’s still a pain. I constantly have to zoom in and out and scroll side to side to be able to read the fonts. And I have a Samsung Note 2 with a huge screen. Cannot imagine the pain that iPhone people must be dealing with. Some one help, please.
Tapatalk works great for the iPhone - automatically formats the SDMB for the iPhone screen; no zooming needed.
Using it now. Much better. Should I get the pay version?
Another vote for Tapatalk. Great little app, with the ability to access a broad range of boards and forums within a single interface.
I don’t know what you get with the paid version of Tapatalk, so I can’t advise there.
Just as a data point, Chrome on my Android did the same thing.
There are 2 versions of Tapatalk for iOS, and one is not a replacement for the other. They’ve said they’ll maintain development of both. But I find both have their problems.
Tapatalk 2 is currently unusable, since it adds a signature to every post - this cannot be disabled.
Tapatalk 1 pops up ads for Tapatalk 2.
Both are buggy if your connection isn’t very good (it’ll act like the thread is loaded, when it really isn’t). You’ll see ads for Tapatalk when you open forums in Safari, but there’s no way to open a specific forum/thread in Tapatalk.
But they’re both definitely better than using the browser. They even have some functions the browser doesn’t - see a list of all your participated threads, and search for new threads without being limited by SDMB’s timer.
I use tapatlk too, but if you use chrome in android, it adjusts the text flow so you can read it comfortably without scrolling sideways.
I find Opera Mini works pretty well for forums on an Android device.
Mine, too. I have a Galaxy 3. Makes me crazy; even in landscape the text is almost too small to read.
Anybody know how to fix this?
Tapatalk works great on my Android, no ads and no forced signatures. I thought I paid like $4 for it, which is a lot for an app, but it seems to be free on the Amazon Appstore. I’m assuming the free version would have ads.
This guy speaks the truth - Opera Mini (or even the non-Mini) FTW!
Here’s a recent (and similar) thread where I recommended it, and two posters responded quite contented with the results.
Opera is awesome for reading the boards, mainly because it wraps the text as you zoom in. Oh, and the way it handles tabs is rather nice too.
