She was coming over before the corpse became a corpse. While the resident was still alive. She was either a relative or a caregiver. Then either the resident died, and she just walked away without reporting the death, OR she died herself, and the resident was left to fend for himself, and subsequently died.

There are other possibilities…she was hired help who quit, or moved, or was fired, or slipped and fell in the bathtub and couldn’t get over there for a few weeks and came back to find a dead body she wanted no part of, or she came back and couldn’t get in and figured he had left… OR she murdered her charge and disappeared. You pick.

But if it was pronounced by Polish speaker it would be approximately sh-tchy-pee-sky

Althought I suspect that initially it was spelled Szczypiński.
