Really dumb little habits that have followed you into adulthood...

I chew the skin round my fingernails, to the extent of ripping great chunks off till the tips of my fingers are raw and bleeding.

Well, I’m only 16, but I still

  • pick sores until they bleed - WHY does everybody develop this habit I wonder?
  • do the happy clap ever so rarely (but it’s on purpose; not a habit I do all the time
*bounce when I walk and I’m felling happy (I could stop doing this if I wished, but it’s just too much fun and I love it!)
  • actually SKIP when I walk and I’m feeling REALLY happy
*Watch Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, whatever’s in season, most mornings. Mostly because it’s such a lovely way to spend breakfast, and good for a laugh. I’m not one of those people that tries to pretend DBZ or Pokemon is serious. Really!

I still sleep with my closet door open.

I read Stephen King’s short story, “The Boogeyman” at about the age of nine or ten. The premise of the story is that the boogeyman lives in your closet and will come out and get you. The imagery in the story scared me so badly that I started sleeping with my closet door open (the logic being that if the closet door’s open, you can see everything inside, and that the Boogeyman can only appear in your closet if you can’t see him… hey, it made sense to me at the time!). It’s a habit that I’ve retained into my (allegedly) adult years; I’m not scared of the boogeyman anymore, but it just feels… well, weird… to not have my closet door open.
