Really, really hard TV trivia question

They were indeed. It was early in the first season.

I’ve been to Brewster a bunch of times, nobody there ever heard of Lou Marie. I think there’s something a little shady about this guy.

Try looking under “Lew Marie.” That was how they spelled his name.

This talk of awry reminded me. I (to this day, sadly) think there are two words that mean “a person or thing that is a perfect example of a particular quality or type.”

One is pronounced epi-tome, and one is pronounced eee-pit-o-me. I found out there was only one word when someone laughed in my face about my pronunciation. I still “hear” the word the first way when I read it.

Hell, if they wanted they Y sound they should have spelled it epitomy. And that singer Ad-e-lay, too. Who taught her how to spell her name?

(I crack up my doctors when I talk about getting my co-LIN-o-scoppy!)

I remember learning the word “risque” when I was 12 or 13. Of course, I pronounced it wrong at first (probably as “risk”), but I think I should get a pass on that one since it’s French.

On the radio in Toronto a couple of years ago, there was a commercial where a woman kept talking about the wonderful “plethora” of items (stress on the “-or-”) her company offered. Every time it came on, I’d shout “That’s PLETH-ora, ya bimbo!” much to the amusement of my teenage daughter.

I did not recognize “epitome” when I first read it; fortunately this happened in junior high.

I think a lot of folks here have seen the porn version of Mary Tyler Moore and are mis-remembering. :

OK, mine is anxiety.

When I first came across this word in a book, I had no idea what it meant. After I figured it out, I thought “where the hell did they get a “gz” sound out of “nx”?”
