I decided to go look up how driver licensing works in Canada. Looks like in Ontario you need to have your permit for a year (or eight months if the driver has completed and passed a ministry-approved driver education course).
When I got my learners permit here in NJ they set the date for my road test then and there before I left the building - for 6 weeks from that day. I passed it, but I never thought I’d be ready for it in just 6 weeks.
Now of course I know that you don’t really know how to drive at that point. I think you’re just deemed “unlikely to harm anyone within seconds of pulling out of the driveway”.
So was I. And everyone was like, ‘‘You’ll do fine.’’ And of course, I failed.
And they were right. I was fine. I just kept practicing and a few months later I passed with flying colors. I know it’s not ideal to fail (believe me), but I also know it’s not the end of the world. I drive all the time now. Too much.
