Reavers (Firefly/Serenity) Vs. Rage "Zombies" (28 Days Later) who would win?

I’m in the process of tearing apart an iBook G4 to replace the optical drive, while i’m doing this, i have Serenity playing on another machine for background noise…

it’s in the sequence where the Serenity crew are fighting off the Reavers on Miranda, and it got me to thinking…

the Reavers are basically “Rage Pathogen Zombies” capable of space travel, so, if the victims of the Rage virus and the Reavers were to square off in battle (planetside, obviously) , which group would win?

Reavers use weapons…

Reavers are actaully capable of thinking and planning and whatnot (as evidenced by the fact that they can pilot spaceships) whereas the rage zombies can’t do much other than run and kill. I think the Reavers would win hands down.

Yeah “the infected” are pretty much leary zombies who run fast. Reavers are intelligent and organised (if a little loony). (IMHO they are the “Injuns” in Josh Wheadon’s “old west in space”).

Given that my Firefly knowledge begins and ends with Serenity, you’d forgive me for thinking that the Reavers are little more than [Echo voice] Rage Zombies in SPACE!!space…space…space…"[/Echo]

maybe i should pick me up that gorram Firefly DVD set, see if the Reavers get fleshed (heh) out any more than the movie…

so, what’d happen if a Reaver got infected with the Rage pathogen?

Yes…yes you should.

They’d turn into Gandhi?

Y’know, the only problem i have with the Fireflyverse profanity of “Gorram” is that there’s actually a town in Northern Maine called…

Gorham

yes the pronunciation is different "gore-ahm/gore-uhm"as opposed to “gor-ram”

maybe that’s where Mal’s parents came from, Gorham, Maine, and they hated it there, so they turned it into a curse word…

as far as sci-fi curses go, Gorram is pretty low on the ship, my favorites are (in order of preference)

Frell (and it’s derivatives)
Frak (and it’s derivatives)
Belgium
Zark
Gorram

Or, what if the rage zombies get exposed to the Pax ™ and don’t have the anti-reaction?

  • May cause severe listlessness. About one tenth of one percent of users experience cannibalistic, self-mutilating sexually predatory rage. Ask your doctor if Pax ™ is right for you.
