(“Beetchoven”? What kinda typo is that?!? Am I roasting beechwood now or something? I meant ol’ Ludwig Van, of course.)
Beethoven-symphony no.3 “eroica”
Mozart-symphonies 38-41, horn concertos, posthorn serenade,
Piano concertos
Haydn-symphonies 49, 93, 94, 96,100, 103
Brahms-symphonies 1-4, violin sonatas
Try some classical guitar solos. John Williams & Andre Segovia are the 2 names that come to mind.
Try Samuel Barber’s ‘Adagio for Strings’.
Just be sure to keep some Kleenex[TM] brand tissues handy if you do. This is the piece of music they used during the opening title and closing credits of Platoon.
Any recomendations for Deilius or Philip Glass?
I’ll put a vote in for this surprising classical work
Frank Zappa - The Yellow Shark
Delius - there’s another composer (like Holst) I should have included in my list. I’d recommend On hearing the first cuckoo in spring.
Glass - I like him, but not everone’s cup of tea. Songs from liquid days would be an interesting starter.
If you’re gonna do Philip Glass, you’ve gotta also do Steve Reich. The Desert Music is pretty awesome for its first 10 seconds or so.
