Classical music to do what to
To awake to?
To get it on to?
To beat someone up to?
To dine to?
To become one with God to?
To become one with Gods to?
To be buried to?
To be married to?
To comit Hari-Kari to?
To have a homosexual encounter to?
To float around space station to?
What do you want?
Really obvious shit like Beethoven’s Fifth and Stravinsky’s Firebird?
Or cool oblique things like the Prokofiev Violin Sonata and Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass?
What are your needs? What are your wants? Help us to help you out, here.
No specifics. Anything you like. Anythingt that’s good. I like classical music as a whole, so, anything you think I’ll like.
Buy some of those “[composer’s name]'s Greatest Hits” CDs. That might be the best bet so you can narrow down your likes and dislikes further.
Sorry, I am have been drinking so it is difficult to narrow down my request. If you just post something that you like, chances are I will like it too. Post your entire classical music playlist if you want. the more replies the better. even if I don’t like what you post. the worst I can do is ignore it.
Peer Gynt Suite by Grieg.
Try it, you’ll like it.
Requiem - Faure
Afternoon of a Faun - Debbussey
The Rite of Spring - Stravinski
Appalachian Spring - Copeland
Porgy and Bess - Gershwin
Jerimiah – Symphony No. 1 - Bernstein
The Shubert Trio Sonatas - particularly 1 and 3
Beethoven - Piano Sonatas (Sonata No. 8 in C Minor (Pathetique), Op. 13, Sonata No. 23 in F Minor (Appassionata), Op. 57, Sonata No. 14 in C# Minor (Moonlight), Op. 27 – but get a good recording Horowitz if available)
Big n’ brassy:
The Seven Deadly Sins–Kurt Weill
Symphony in F–George Gershwin
Slaughter on Tenth Avenue–Richard Rodgers
Victory at Sea–Richard Rodgers and others
Sacred music:
Faure’s Requiem is delicate and lovely, perhaps my favorite–the end of the GLORIA is one of the most incredible moments I’ve had as a chorister. But for different takes, there are famous ones by Mozart, Brahms, and Shubert. The Verdi one is amazing with a DIES IRAE that will scare the hell out of you.
Purty n’ quiet:
Symphony #3 by Henrik Gorecki
Mahler’s symphonies, esp. #4
Der Winterreise, by Schubert; a German song cycle
Many, many more, but these are a few of my faves.
Bach violin partita #3, BWV 1006
