Reccomend some nice ambient continuous loop music.

I have a music collection the enjoyment of which has been exhausted by over-playing.

I have a new computer. I would like something to play as ambience while I use it. I don’t want to use my ‘real’ music for the above reason.

Right now I have ‘Music for a Great Castle’ playing which I bought on a whim, after visiting (you’ll never ever guess this in a million years) *a castle! *

(Ok I overdid the sarcasm. The castle in question was Castle Rushen, in a town called Castletown, which was the ancient capital of the IOM)

Anyway, it does the job. I would like more ambient music to fulfill this role ongoing.

Can’t go wrong with Brian Eno. He’s got a number of ambient albums. I highly recommed his Apollo which is the soundtrack for the film For All Mankind.

I think DJ Food fits your interests.
I’ll think of others & check back.

Godspeed you Black Emperor!

Good taste. I happen to have some Brian Eno (‘Music for Airports’ and ‘On Land’) which I dug out after posting this thread.

I’ll check out Apollo on amazon.

Brian Eno’s #5 on that list, for what it’s worth. I love last.fm.

“Brian Peter George St. Jean Baptiste de la Salle Eno” Long name.

“Another Green World” is one I actually recognise!

Edit: The first sample is off ‘Apollo’ All the more reason to buy it (which I have)

And pick up the DVD of the film, while you’re at it. If you’ll pardon the pun, the visuals are out of this world.

It occurs to me now that this On Land music would be just the perfect soundtrack for a space-sim game like Eve, or Freelancer.

Baroque music.

Any of the John Ellis (ex-Stranglers) Gallery Music releases - titles and samples here. I have a couple of them (#2 & 3) and enjoy them a lot.
They were created to be background for specific art exhibitions…

In a thread a couple of days ago I mentioned the work of Philip Glass which has huge slabs of stuff from 6 of his albums, streaming for nothing. Personally I find it absolutely hypnotic stuff.

How about some Classical Indian music? Maybe something by sitar-maestro Vilayat Khan. - Or some Dhrupad-song by the Dagar brothers.

Check out Windy & Carl’s The Dreamhouse ep. They actually have a lot of great ambient stuff, but this is a good place to start.

The Cure - Carnage Visors

This is a single song about a half-hour long, no vocals. I have been listening to it obsessively lately.

Perhaps you might like this? (part 1 is perhaps less in the spirit of the OP than the others).

Any of numerous collections of Miles Davis. If you’re going to listen to something soft without vocals, listen to something good
