If you bake cookies you have probably seen, or made, the cookies called peanut-butter blossoms. It is a pb cookie rolled in sugar, baked and then it flattens. When pulled warm from the oven a Hersheys Kiss is plunked in the middle.
I am looking for a similar cookie that is chocolate instead of peanut butter. It will still have the Kiss on it though. Anyone seen something like this?
I’ve never seen that but could probably fake it with a bit of experimentation.
Do you object to the peanut butter entirely? I would probably try to use the peanut butter base recipe but with added cocoa powder and powdered sugar. If you don’t want to use peanut butter at all, I’m sure smarter people will be along shortly to offer better thoughts.
Chocolate cookies are an enigma. I’ve been looking for a brownie type chocolate cookie recipe for years. My Mother used to make them. But there’s no recorded recipe. Here’s as close as I’ve gotten:
1 box devils food cake mix
1 bowl of coolwhip
2 eggs
Mix alk together. It will be stiff.
Pick it up by tablespoons and roll it around in powdered sugar, place on a cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes. Watch them close, they burn easily.
You could put a kiss in the center while still warm.
I have added raisins, walnuts, pecans, and coconut in trials. They are better with nothing added.
I thought I’ve commonly seen them with white chocolate kisses but I must be wrong. When I searched “white chocolate kiss cookie” I didn’t get what I was expecting - apparently white chocolate Kisses are more popular with gingerbread?
But this recipe looks promising, with chocolate Kisses and chocolate cookies Chocolate Kiss Cookies
Here’s another recipe with a cookie that looks much different than the one above. And they use peppermint Kisses, which a friend and I discussed one time as being too potent for our tastes. I’m sure you could use chocolate Kisses instead Easy Peppermint Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies Recipe
Thanks you everyone. That one ZipperJJ has looks fantastic. I did do some searching but somehow overlooked, or did not find, that one. I have to make a chocolate treat for a Sunday event and this will be it!
OK, the cookie dough is chilling and I will bake some tonight and tomorrow morning. I used all my willpower, since I am on a diet, and did not taste the dough.
I am holding out until tomorrow, to have one cookie. I bought dark Kisses, not milk chocolate, as I myself like them, although milk chocolate is good too!
ZipperJJ, today, for the second time, I made those cookies you provided the link for. They were very popular, let me tell you. Again, thanks so much for pointing me in the direction of that link/recipe. It is easy to make and looks fantastic, an ideal cookie.
