I’ve really enjoyed the Maisie Dobbs books by Jacqueline Winspear.
I love Spenser too. Even when Parker was alive some of his books were ‘balloon payment books’ though. Still loved them. The Susan thing did get annoying. I would just skim over that. The dialogue between Spenser and Hawk was laugh out loud clever stuff, that’s what I read the books for.
Since Parker died, the ‘ghost’ writers writing under his name have been uneven at best. Some are ok, better than nothing and others I put down after a chapter.
Those are good. I found them a tad too clean cut for me but she is a good writer.
