I’m going to make a cake from scratch for the first time this weekend. I have a recipe for the frosting for the outside, but I need something deliciously chocolatey for the inside. If it’s vintage that’s a bonus.

You’ll have cocoa powder and powdered sugar on hand after making the cake and white frosting, so in keeping with the back-of-the-box classic theme, I would make Hershey’s chocolate frosting:
