Recommend a good pair of shoes

I want a really nice, comfortable pair of women’s shoes that are good for my feet, that cost up to about $100, and that look pretty decent, i.e. no blinding white nurse shoes, please. What are your suggestions? (links to Zappos or another online shoe store appreciated!)

I had a pair of Josef Siebel shoes that were incredibly comfortable, but completely wore out inside of a year–really annoying considering I’d paid around $80 for them. I was considering buying a pair of Earth Shoes, but read some very negative feedback about them from people on this board.

What shoes would you recommend?

I love Merrill shoes - they are very comfortable and cost less than $100 on average. They are casual, though, and may not fit all your needs.

I like Rockports. I’ve had some boots and some casual shoes from them and they’ve really held up well and are very comfortable.

I tried on some Merrills not long ago, but they didn’t have my size and no one else around here carries them, so I just ordered some Rockports.

Clark’s is great. Some might be a little over $100, but a lot are also less than that, and they are very comfortable. They have a lot of simple styles that are good for work or with jeans, and I have a couple of very cute dressy shoes I also got there, all very comfortable and easy to walk in.

I have a pair of Bass walking shoes that I use for everything. I bought them on sale a couple years ago for $35, which was something like 50% or 60% off. I’ve worn them at least four times a week since I’ve bought them, and they have another year or two in them, I think. They’re Mary Janes, and I can’t find anything remotely like them in the adult section. But here is is in sand nubuck at Zappo’s. Mine are black.

Dansko’s

My absolute favorite pair of comfy shoes.

Some styles are slightly higher than $100, but they are worth every penny.

Soooooo comfortable.

I’m not sure about the price but my wife and I both have had great success with

Ecco’s

I’ll second Rockport’s. They’re very comfy, come in a nice range of sizes, including wide, and wear really well. Also come in lots of styles. We have an outlet mall near us (well, an hour away) that has a Rockport outlet. At the outlet, I can get a good pair of Rockports for about $60.00 or so. A bargain.

Clark’s and Eccos have been great for my wide, persnickety feet. You might need a sale to get a pair of Eccos for less than $100.

A little less expensive are Hush Puppies. I haven’t always been able to find a good fit, but when I have the shoes have lasted and lasted.
