Recommend a Rehoboth Beach Hotel (3-star or higher)

I’m thinking about going to an event on a Wednesday night in Lewes, DE, in early October. I’d stay in Rehoboth Beach – likely Tuesday-Friday, to allow for downtime, taking the Cape May-Lewes ferry one day, etc. I’ve just started researching possible hotels. I know how to use the internet and travel sites, but I’m hoping for personal recommendations from folks who have been there recently. Anecdotes from friends or family are also welcome.

I prefer higher-end/luxury hotels that are walking distance to the water/boardwalk. I’m not interested in an AirBnB or other rental property. Two hotels I’m currently looking at are Hotel Rehoboth and the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. Has anyone stayed at either of these, or heard either glowing recommendations/horror stories?

Any other places I should consider?

I guess Dopers don’t vacation in Delaware? :frowning:

( )

We love the Avenue Inn. We’ve been staying there for the past 12 years or so.

Ms. P and I stayed at Boardwalk Plaza once, and it was ok but nothing special.

I do, but I don’t stay at nice hotels in Rehoboth. I mostly go to Rehoboth for the bookstore. :sunglasses: And Grotto Pizza.

Magic Eyes, isn’t that the BEST bookstore??~~~~

My family stays in a campground along the coastal highway. It doesn’t quite qualify as a 3 star hotel.

Not to fight the premise, but if you have any interest in staying in Lewes at all, I’ve always stayed at the Blue Water House and it’s awesome. Nice room, five minute walk to the bay-side beach, ten minute walk to the “downtown” Lewes area, 20 minute drive to Rehoboth, included breakfast, and complimentary beer and wine every evening. Staying in Lewes is definitely a much more laid-back experience than Rehoboth, but it’s perfect if that’s more your speed.

Thanks, all!

Yup, I’d stay in Lewes, it’s such a sweet town, but if Rehoboth is it, I wouldn’t stay anywhere on the Boardwalk, it gets noisy at night and tends to attract partiers.
