Recommend a UK no-OS PC supplier

I need a new computer.

I currently run a legal, licensed copy of Windows XP Pro on my existing machine. The EULA says that I can transfer this license to a new machine when I stop using it on the old one, so that’s what I want to do. I am happy enough to (or, at least, prepared to) install the bugger. As such, I don’t want to pay good money for a new OS license.

So what I am looking for is a decent value, reliable PC manufacturer in the UK who will give me reasonable control over the spec (I also have a monitor I am happy with which I plan to continue using) and will not insist on including (and charging for) an OS.

I had Dell and Mesh in mind as they check most of the boxes, but I didn’t have any luck finding a way to buy a no OS machine from them.

Have any of you had a good enough experience with a supplier who meets my criteria to want to recommend them?

DABS. Never bought a PC from them, but I’ve bought other stuff from them, and they’re great - dirt cheap, good customer service, quick delivery.

How comfortable are you with tinkering around inside the PC? You can save money and get exactly what you want by buying the parts and building the computer yourself.

If you are reasonably handy with a screwdriver and know a little bit about the internals of a computer, the manual that comes with the motherboard usually includes a pretty good step-by-step set of instructions.
