Recommend an American sedan that's competitive with the Honda Accord/Acura TSX?

I’m seriously thinking about getting a late model Acura TSX (like 2005). But am wondering if there is an American made sedan that is comparable/competitive?

The most important thing to me is that my car be reliable, will last at least seven to ten years, and be affordable (to me). IOW, no more than $22k.

Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu, Saturn Aura. I’d check those three out.

Ford Fusion should be on your radar screen:

I would seriously consider buying this car, even though I have a predisposition toward Honda and Toyota (note: both slippled in quality…very minor, but a slight slip).

I have driven one, and actually like the styling much more than any Japanese offering. Feels better overall.

Modern cars can leg out 150,000 miles and seven years without blinking.

Definitely see the “review” section in the Wiki link, as it summarizes alot of high profile reviews/rewards.
