Recommend an Art Camp for teen?

We’re looking for an Art Camp to send our daughter over the summer. She’s fairly gifted artistically, but also doing very well in Math and Physics. In school, she has to decide what High Level courses to take, and only is allowed to take so many at one time (She’s in an IB program, I guess it’s an IB thing). We want her to still be able to explore her creative side without cutting herself short on the more “left brain” subjects. So her mom wants to find an art camp where she can get immersion in the summer.

Any suggestions are appreciated?

Thanks,

Shibb

PS Mods, thought this might be a little better spot, but feel free to move to IMHO if you like.

How far are you willing to send her?

Lake Michigan? check outBlue Lake Fine Arts camp

I was thinking maybe France or Canada. She’s has to take four years of French for school, so I thought it might help. Plus nothing like sending your daughter out amongst the French art community, where she can hang out with Gitanes and clove cigarette smoking hipsters… hmm, maybe not. But distance isn’t a huge factor.

What’s an IB program? Are we supposed to just know? Or is it just an “IB thing”?

And I’d recommend “ArtVentures”, but that’s mostly ceramics. What kind of art does she do?

So far it’s been mainly drawing and paints.

IB is International Baccalaureate, an academically intense program with a heavy AP load (simple version, for the longer version read the link). She been “pre-IB” thus far, and about to enter the 2 year program. In Florida, at least, it’s a four year magnet high school in the public schools that’s supposed to give similar to a good private school at public school prices.
