Recommend blank DVD recordable media, or, where the heck is Handy when you need him?

I took the plunge and bought a Sony DRU500 DVD recorder for my computer. I’ll be performing the surgery this weekend. Any recommendations on blanks? Or are they all about the same (within the same type)? My standalone DVD player will play “DVD-R discs recorded with the DVD VIDEO format…though some may not be played back because of the disc characteristics or recording condition”.

Handy, what are you using?

I’m not Handy but I’ll give my $.02. For my DVD burning needs I’ve been using Maxwell’s and they have been working quite well for me, considering they are pretty reasonably priced as far as DVDs go.

If you want to pay the money though, from what I have been hearing the best currently available is actually Apple’s brand of DVD-R. I haven’t used more than a few though so i can’t verify this.

I recommend Imation or Memorex DVD-R and RW media.

Not a failure yet.

kHypermedia DVD-Rs have a high failure rate.
