Recommend D&D in a box?

As I said in my OP, I really don’t want to play on line, as I probably won’t play all that often. It doesn’t seem fair to other participants to just hop in every few weeks. But thanks.

The thing with D&D Stormreach is that even though it is online, you don’t travel with any set party. You look for a group the same level as you, or similar, choose your adventure, and off you go. The game supports voice chat so that you can talk to one another about the adventure (the thief says ‘don’t move, I see a trap’ for example).

The thing is not perfect, and I burned through just about all of the content in two months of far-too-much play, but if you only do it a few times a month, and don’t mind the $15/month fee, it may be worth checking out.

Plus, they have a free 7-day trial if you want to give it a try.

I like ‘Temple of Elemental Evil’ game, because it is based closely on a module I played in the early 1980’s (older players will remember the preliminary ‘Village of Hommlett’ ).

Unfortunately the computer is not as interactive as a human Dungeon Master, so I also recommend the Strategy Guide in case you get stuck:

Happy adventuring!
