I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good, free telephone answering software package. Nothing fancy, no bells and whistles (well, maybe a few bells and whistles). Basically I just want it to answer the phone; I don’t need a complete IVR system. So, what have you got for me?
This thread is better suited for IMHO. I’ll move it for you.

Software for PC or MAC? For Windows or Linux? or for cellphone?
Ah, sorry. I should have known that was important :smack: PC, Windows XP, regular landline telephone.
Aha I am more clued in on cellphones in this case, but this freeware is highly rated at Tucows, you might want to see if it does what you need?
Damn, said freeware, but the site says demo.
Download.com is doiwn for me, but search “voicemail” there.
Hmmm. It’s down for me too. I wonder if it’s dead?
Advanced Call Center is great. Sadly it’s not freeware. You have a voice modem, right?
Yep, I have it. I’m running the trial version now, and it is very nice, but it’s way more than I really need. Oh well, it’s cheap enough, I might just give in and buy it. Thanks everyone who contribruted. Further suggestions are, of course, welcome.
