Recommend invoicing, A/R software (preferably free)

Though I’ll consider “cheap” if it’s really amazing software (cheap being in the neighborhood of $20 or so).

Basically looking for a simple way to create invoices and track payments for a (very) small freelance business. I’ve tried QuickBooks and it was way more complicated than I needed. I couldn’t figure out what half the functions were for. Also it was expensive. I mostly just need a way to keep track of what I’m owed, when, and by whom.

Have you tried freshbooks.com? They charge for snail mail invoice sending, but if you don’t use that, it’s free.
