Recommend me a great travel discussion forums?

I am fed up with Lonely Planet’s clunky, confusing forum interface as well as their snarky contributors and am looking for recommendations for a good travel forum to join. Looked at Fodors, it’s clunky as well, plus full of ads masquerading as travel news.

Any suggestions?

What sort of information are you looking for? Are you primarily interested in getting information for specific trips, or is it more about browsing and daydreaming? Do you have any particular focuses (regions, activities, travel style, etc.?)

A couple of my friends swear by Slow Travel(and one moderates their board)

Fodors, Frommers, Trip Advisor… for travel info.
For discussions and chats? Good question.

Tripadvisor is quite a useful forum, IMHO.

Flyertalk has region-specific fora for discussing travel.

and many other sections for pretty much any aspect of travel you care to discuss.

I second Tripadvisor. I’ve used it many times.

Since the OP is looking for advice, let’s move this to IMHO.

If you’re looking at India - Indiamike is the best place to go.

Well, I used to be a regular on Fodors, until one day I posed the question “so, Fodorites, are there any forums out there that are like Fodors, but not just travel?”

And I’ve been here ever since.

So, Fodors.
