Recommend me an intelligent right-wing messageboard

This [captainsquartersblog.com] blog* is intelligently written, imo. PowerLine has a forum, but I haven’t perused it much. Although I am very conservative in most of my views, I get turned off when religion plays too great a role in discussions, so I tend to play here instead of on conservative forums.
I don’t know of any equivalently good conservative message boards. The above site have a lot of links to other conservative sites, perhaps perusing them will turn up some interesting boards.

*Warning, capt’s quarters doesn’t play well with Mozilla.

[Moderator Underoos On]I’m seeing far too many off-topic responses here. The OP is asking for intelligent right-leaning message boards. If you don’t know of any, don’t post here.[/Moderator Underoos On]

You might want to look up right-wing message boards here. They’ve got quite a list available.

sees Moderator comment, removes post

I’ve had a brief gander at all 4 listed - well 3 as one’s down - and they’re nowhere near the quality of the SDMB.

Maybe you’ve spotted a gap in the market, as it were.

I think this may be part of the problem:

Originally written by Slavoj Zizek referring to the puppet regimes of Eastern Europe under the iron curtain; however I think the same principle applies to modern conservatism.

[Moderator Underoos On]No, I think the problem is that you totally disregarded post #22, where I specifically told people to cut this crap out. If you want to debate politics, get your ass over to Great Debates.
'Nuff said.[/Moderator Underoos On]

Sorry, amigo. It’s been left of center since I’ve been on it, and moving further left on a daily basis.

Do you, in fact, have a right-wing messageboard to suggest, or is this another of those off-topic comments that Czarcasm has discussed twice already?

Thanks. I’m a conservative/libertarian and one of the reasons I rarely post is that there are so many gratuitous and dumb insults about conservatives and so little support from mods in trying to stop it. So I do appreciate your effort.

This might be a minor point but I don’t think the intent was to debate politics but rather to insult people. Maybe the Pit would be a better place to go.

Did anyone mention redstate.com?

Also, Quartz, my sense of this is that for some reason, the left and right have evolved somewhat differently since the Internet took off. I think that conservatives tend to read blogs and listen to talk radio more and leftists tend to go to message boards more often.

I’d suggest the following blogs:

powerlineforum.com which has a new forum attached, I haven’t seen it yet
realclearpolitics.com mostly a collection of links to articles, some original stuff

and the following radio shows, available for free via itunes:

Hugh Hewitt
Dennis Miller on KNEW

Finally, I’d like to hear what you found out about polite left-wing message boards. Could you post a link? Thanks.

Any guess as to why?

I’m not sure what you mean by that. When I said “for some reason” I meant I have no idea why. I’m never very good at explaining why people have different tastes. Are you implying a specific reason? If so, I’d be interested in what you think.

Or should I not bother reading anything into it and just say “No, no idea why. But I’ll sleep on it and if I come up with a stroke of genius in the next day or so I’ll get back to you.”

I’m not. I’m not even sure it’s true that lefties go mainly to message boards and righties to blogs. You seem to be saying that’s just your anecdotal impression. I wonder who would have stats on that? But if it is true, it would be a very interesting fact, and the reason underlying it would also be interesting.

Quartz: Here is a comprehensive list of political message boards, chatrooms and blogs, with links.

Discussion of a perceived right/left messageboard/blog divide may take place in a new thread if so desired.

The OP has been given some options. This thread is closed.
