For a graduation present, my grandparents got me one of those radio/cd/record players. I have wanted a record player for years, and now I finally have one. Now, there’s a new problem, I have no records.
What are some good ones? I have a wide range of taste. I like things from Johnny Horton to the O’jays, but I have never been into the rock music. I am open to nearly any and all suggestions.
If you need me to narrow the field down, I’ll do the best I can.
I suppose one reason to buy records these days is for the nifty covers, so that’s how I’ll base my recomendations.
Jethro Tull- Thick As a Brick. Includes a little parody newspaper. How cool is that?
Jethro Tull- Passion Play. If I remember correctly this one came with program notes for a fake ballet of sorts (hey! that rhymes…well, the last part does).
Alice Cooper- School’s Out. Cover opens like an old school desk. And I believe these were originally released with a pair of paper panties included. Groovy.
And of course there are the particularly nifty picture discs. I’m perfectly willing to buy those regardless of who’s the artist.
Funkdoobiest Brothes Doobie
MC Solaar Prose Combat
Lou Donaldson Hot Dog
Beastie Boys — Any damn album you can get
Deelite — ditto
Dimitri From Paris A Night at the Playboy Mansion
Iron Maiden- Killers
Motley Crue- Shout At The Devil
That’s all I can think of right now…
