Recommend movies with cavalry battles

Title says it all really; I’m looking for movies that have good battle scenes with lots of horses and men (doesn’t matter if mounted or dragoon style). I really prefer the Civil War, but any time period or nationality will do.

Thanks for any suggestions

Long time since I saw it, but I recall Waterloo as having great cavalry scenes.

Major Dundee is a good one. I saw this in its first theatrical release, and I’ve learned that a lot was cut out of it at that time. When it was released on VHS and DVD in 2005, the missing footage was restored.

Braveheart and the last two Lord of the Rings movies have pretty good cavalry battles, if you don’t mind lances instead of carbines.

Oh, and I’m kinda taking it for granted you’re familiar with John Ford’s cavaly trilogy?

Further afield, there’s Alexander Nevsky. Bonus: Great music.

two of errol flynn’s best: *they died with their boots on * and charge of the light brigade.

The Lighthorsemen
The Horse Soldiers

40,000 Horsemen is a recreation of (supposedly) the last cavalry charge in military history, the Australian Light Horsemen breaking through the Turkish lines at Beersheba.
