Recommend some good treasure hunting websites

I read an article today concerning the salvage of a ship off the coast of North Carolina, which is believed to be the wreck of Blackbeard’s ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge.

I’ve always been an avid fan of mysteries, so recommend me some good sites about lost and buried treasures, shipwrecks, and such. Not looking for sites for equipment. I don’t want to actually hunt any treasure, I just like to read about what’s out there.

For instance, this site is fun.

Here’s one I stumbled on last night in the book I’m reading. Found a site too, so you can check it out. It involves a cipher which is supposedly still unsolved if the entire thing isn’t a hoax. The link for a copy of the pamphlet is on the bottom of the page, that also includes the encrypted location of the treasure, and another page with the names and locations of the families who are to recieve a share.

From what I’ve read in my book last night ( I only skimmed the site) it’s one of those mysteries where there’s lot of evidence for it being real, and lots to indicate it’s a hoax. Either way, if your into ciphers, then this one could be a fun little hobby.

Are you familiar with Oak Island?

Thanks for the link Sgt. Pepper. Interesting stuff.

Oak Island has been chapping my ass since I was a teenager. And it’s been so badly done, that whatever was down there is probably 400 feet deep by now…

On a much smaller (and easier) scale, there’s always geocaching.com
