Recommend some holiday music for me!

I’ve got lots of the old standby’s – Bing and Deano and Perry and Frank singing White Christmas and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire – love it a lot, kats and kittens, but I’m getting tired of it. And I’ve got the Nutcracker, of course, though it’s not one of my faves. So . . . what else? I like most kinds of music from classical to modern, though my tastes for holiday mustic tend to be more traditional than, say, “Santa’s the Shnizzle.” :slight_smile:

What music gets you into the season? Please tell!

You might try Trans Siberian Orchestra

Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration is my favorite.

Kathleen Battle has a good one for the operatic/symphonic vibe.

Blind Boys of Alabama Go Tell It On the Mountain with a variety of special guests.

Amy Grant A Christmas Album for a country pop vibe.

Broadway Cares: Carols for a Cure. Excellent CDS for an excellent cause.

Joan Sutherland: Joy to the World. A great voice and a nice selection. A lovely arrangement of “What Child Is This”, a playful take on “12 Days of Christmas”, and a baroque-flavored version of “Good King Wenceslas”.

The Beach Boys’ Ultimate Christmas.

I start listening to it before Thanksgiving every year.

Here’s an mp3 of a beautiful version of “Oh Holy Night” (I do have permission to share this);

Instead of repeating my suggestions, here’s a link.

There’s also the Christmas album that Brian Wilson released last year.

Singers Unlimited Christmas Is one of my favoritest ever. Gene Puerling is a magician who turns everything he touches to sonic gold. Go ahead and listen to the samples if you don’t believe me.
