Excuse me, but Steel Panthers is turn based, but you have lots of interaction between the two turns. SPWaW is fun, but the campaign generator is a bit of a disappointment. On the other hand, there are tons of scenarios available, which are great fun (especially the large ones). Also, Matrix games, which released it have also two other freeware games, one on the Russian front and one on the Pacific war.

I am an avid wargamer, and I have thrown everything over for one title: “Combat Mission: Beyond OVERLORD”.
This game is simply terrific, and with all of the fan support sites offering great mods and scenarios, you won’t get tired of it for a very long time. Also, “Combat Mission 2: BARBAROSSA to Berlin” is going to be out in a few more months (Thank GAWD - I’m jonesing like a fiend, man!).
Tell you what: check out these two links. The first one is a great site to get great mods to make the game even purtier, and the second is the closest thing to a real online community I’ve ever struck. (I know, I know…but the SDMB has too many divisive issues and hard feelings to be fun ALL of the time. It’s mission, ignorance eradication, is great, but sometimes it’s just not a lot of FUN! BoB is fun ALL the TIME, man!)
