I’ve been collecting Arkham House books for years. Their new titles kind of suck, but they were great between 1939 and 1970 or so. (August Derleth started the company in order to publish the works of H.P. Lovecraft in hardcover.)
Canada’s Ash-Tree Press is pretty good, in a pseudo-Arkham way.
I have a few volumes from Midnight House, which seems to be an imprint of the Darkside Press you mentioned. They’re all out of print now, so bully for me.
And Bison Books IS very cool…thanks for the link, I have to see what they’ve been up to lately.
Oh yeah…McFarland is very cool, they published Eve.
Scarecrow Press is another very good publisher in the McFarland mold (small print runs for specialized audiences, like Famous Symphonic Bassoon Solos of the Nineteenth Century)
Oh. Right. Arkham House. Forgot about that one. :smack:
I also forgot to mention Hippocampus Press, which has been putting out some very good reprints of old weird tales stuff. As has Chaosium (I’d provide a link, but their site seems to be down at the moment.)
Others:
MIT Press - Like, duh. I get a fair number of books related to software engineering from 'em.
Taschen - For weird art stuff.
Gollancz - To be lauded for their “Fantasy Masterworks” series Last Gasp - Lots of weirdness.
And Eve, I wanna hear more about writing a McFarland book!
