Recording phone conversations to PC

I checked out some software for being able to record telephone conversations to the hard drive, and most of them say I need a voice modem.

I have Verizon DSL with a Westell 2200 modem and my OS is XP.

I’m assuming my current modem is not a voice modem?

If not, will be able to use a voice modem with my set-up?

What’s the least amount I can expect to pay for one that still will record clearly?

Is there any other way to record phone conversations to my PC without buying any hardware such as a voice modem?

Here is some software that I’ve found:

That one says This phone recording software lets you manually record telephone calls on a line connected to a voice modem, a telephony card or with a sound card connector lead (see below).

Is a sound card connector lead the mic jack? I have a regular old sound card.

For the record, recording phone conversations is legal in all 50 states as long as both parties are aware, and in 38 if one party is aware.

Skype + sw that records any sound-out to speakers activity as an MP3 file (preferably with scriptable hooks so you can turn it on at call-start and off at call-end).

Check out the Phone2PC Basic here: http://www.konexx.com/record.htm

I’ve used it for about 3 years and it is great. Very simple, dependable, and you don’t need a special modem. Just the typical microphone input jack.

I really love this product.
