recently my father is having problems with a large company, he transferred a credit balance from one card to another and they charged him a transfer fee which was statid in the paperwork that he wouldnt be charged. He’s wanting to record his conversation with them. if i read the information HERE correctly because it is a buisness call only one parties consent is required for him to record the conversation as long as it realtes to the buisness at hand. Am i correct in this assumption, or am i missing something in the text?
Wisconsin allows the recording of phone conversations if one party consents to it. You consent to it if you do it of coarse. He can tell them the conversation will be recorded, just like the companies do, then both parties know it.
IANAL but I have a similar issue in which I need to record a business conversation.
According to my lawyer (here in Ohio) it is perfectly legal since one of the parties is giving consent (me.) It’s just illegal to record a call between two or more unconsenting parties.
we were wondering mostly about one party consent because they refuse to talk to him if the know he’s recording we are in tennessee and they are in indiana fwiw.
This table explains it:

Fed Law: One party consent
Indiana Law: One party consent
Tennessee Law: One party consent
As always, consult an attorney. The law may change faster than website operators update their sites.
If you couldn’t tape, you might wish to consider memorializing your conversation with the credit card vendor employee by mailing them a notarized written transcript of your conversation. Just have a quick-typing friend transcribe the conversation on a third phone line.
