Are there verified cases of recovered repressed memories of long-term sexual abuse? There have been many cases of memories falsely recovered during hypnosis; are there actually any ones where it’s been possible to verify it after all those years? I have a hard time seeing how long-term abuse could be repressed so completely that it doesn’t come out for decades, but I realize my comprehension doesn’t have any bearing on whether it could actually happen or not. And I know that the fact that it may be unverifiable after many years doesn’t mean it didn’t occur. But I would like to know if there have actually been cases where it could be proven that it did happen (corroboration by other parties, whatever).
Never mind, I think I’ve found at least one fairly recent case that seems reputable without digging very hard, and I assume there are more.
