Red Baron comic strip -- am I nuts??

Okay, don’t answer the second part; I know I’m crazy.

Anyway, I seem to remember from my childhood in the seventies a b&w comic strip featuring the Red Baron – the same Baron who was Snoopy’s “World War I pilot” persona’s unseen nemesis. This strip is told from the Baron’s point of view.

I doubt very much this was anything Charles Schulz did. it seems, from my fragmented memories, this was a featurette in one of the humor magazines of the era, e.g. MAD or National Lampoon.

Is this ringing a bell with anybody over fifty?

According to the Mad Cover site, you are looking for Mad Magazine #123 December 68 issue and #127 June 1969. Happiness is eine kaput beagle.

No, no, audit1, I seem to recall a newspaper strip existing. Very short run.
I don’t remember more than that.

It was a comic book rather than a newspaper strip, but the first thing I thought of when I read your post was DC’s Enemy Ace: Enemy Ace - Wikipedia.

Probably not what you had in mind. Was it a humour strip or an adventure strip you’re thinking of?

That sounds familiar!!

ETA: YES!! That “American Beagle???” panel is just what I remember! Thanks!

Humor strip. But thanks, that looks like an interesting comic.
