I think it’s just based on your black hat/white hat status before you enter the final mission (or the second to last one, depending on how you count 'em.) If you havea save from before then, I think you can just go around shooting up homesteaders for a bit to get yourself into black hat territory to see the bad ending. That’s what I understand, though, not anything I know for sure.
I’m in the epilogue now, and now I really want Rockstar to release a DLC that allows you to play a remastered RDR1 in the new map with all of the weapons, skills, and horses I’ve got now.
Sorry to dredge this up, but I’m slow slogger. I just finished the game proper. As in … do I have to spoiler things at this point? … I guess I will:
… Arthur is dead. He died peacefully (after getting the shit kicked out of him) because I was a good boy and I went to help John at the end. Now I’ve played through the entire epilogue and I presume at this point I’m free to go back and do all the side missions and challenges and treasure maps and shit like that at my heart’s desire. My question is this … how exactly does this square with the beginning of Red Dead I? As I recall, John was riding into Armadillo on a train from Blackwater as an unwilling agent of the government, but I haven’t been able to catch up more than that. I don’t remember how the story unwinds but as I recall John did not have the amazing cache of money and weapons and other things that I have now; not to mention that I seem to remember him not making it back to Beecher’s Hope and Abigail until quite late in the narrative.
Can some one help me Memento this thing together? I just won’t feel right going back for Legendary Animals if I can’t retcon the story into RDI.
BUMP
For anyone who played this on PC, how are the mouse and keyboard controls? I played all of Witcher 3 that way and they were honesty really fantastic. I’m wondering how well this game plays with just a standard keyboard and mouse setup.
Thanks.
