Red Piano. How to put this, um.... Please help!

Since we are all talking about Las Vegas…

I guess it is too late because I’ve already booked tickets and rooms, but is the show going to shock my date who has some fairly conservative values? I am not talking about his infamous asides, but how the show deals with his… personal life. I am starting to wonder if I did the right thing. I think she could deal with something tasteful, but overt imagery would shock her. Any advice from someone who has seen it? What sort of imagery is used? Or should I take a loss on Reggie and book a Magic Show?

(I really want to see Elton!)

I have not seen his Las Vegas show (but have seen him in concert).

I live here in Las Vegas and know many people who have seen the show and most all of them liked it a lot. However, one very conservative woman I know went to see the show and her major complaint was his off-the-cuff comments on Bush and Iraq. I don’t believe the comments are scripted (unlike Celine who never seems to miss a word from her script) so it could be she just caught a show where he was in a particular mood and felt it necessary to make some comments.

That said, Elton is openly Gay, openly hates Bush and the Iraq war, and makes no secret of his liberal bias. He is the same in his regular concerts - but he still spends most of his time playing the music people come to hear.

Don’t know if that helps in your decision, but all I can tell you is that most everybody I know who has gone to see his Red Piano show here in Las Vegas has come back with glowing reports - and several of them were anything but liberal Democrats.

Well, I am quite the conservative but I absofuckinglutely adore Elton John and quite easily forgive him his liberal biases…after all, he is in show business, you know, and gay, so it’s pretty much to be expected.

I would say that it just depends. If she is sufficiently impressed with his talent and work ethic and accomplishments and music, she may be willing to overlook comments he may make which she would find offensive.

As far as ‘imagery’ goes, I’ve never heard of anything offensive during one of these shows, but I don’t know for sure.

Why not just ask her…or is it a surprise? Or you could call the hotel where the show takes place and get the info straight from the horse’s mouth, then tell her what you’ve learned and see what she says?
