Redbox DVD

Has anyone tried these machines out?
Especially anyone in the Denver area?

Redbox DVD

They are DVD rental vending machines that are being tested out in the Denver market and I saw them installing one in my McDonalds in Minneapolis.

Looks like you can rent new release DVDs for $1 a day. Just swipe your debit/credit card in the machine and it gives you the dvd. It’s due back by 10 p.m. the next day. If you keep it longer it will charge you $1 for each additional day.
If you keep it over 20 days it will charge you $26 for the dvd.
And you can return them at any machine.

This sounds too good to be true and I am eager to try it out.

I’m in Denver and I use these machines all the time. Nope - it’s just like they say - no tricks.

One buck a day & 10:00pm is the cut-off of the day.

If you give them your email address, you get emailed codes that give you free days every now and then.

Never had a problem with them.

Oh, hidden truth, you can return the video to a machine different than the one you got it from.

If you dig around, McDonalds owns the Redbox company which is why they’re only in McDonald’s Resturants.

I guess not that hidden (last sentence).

I’ve used them pretty extensively. I’ve only ever had one problem- a disc that was scratched. I emailed RedBox and they refunded my dollar and gave me a code for a free rental. I also appreciate that you can return them at any location. We watch a lot of DVDs at work, and it’s nice that I can pick one up wherever we happen to be, and then just return it at the location by where I live.
