It’s a shame it took corporate strong arming to make it happen rather than doing it because it was the right thing to do, but it looks like finally the Washington Racial Slurs are finally going to change their name.
But as long as it changes, I am fine with that.

They can rename themselves the Washington Politicians, though many find that name more offensive than “Redskins”.

A few years ago, the University in North Dakota, changed the names of their sports teams, doing away with the “Fighting Sioux” nick name. However, I think they left the women’s track team’s name intact, “the Runaround Sue”.
Two possibilities for the men’s team. “A Boy Named Sue” or “the Dions”.
Well I looks like my personal boycott of Washington football has finally brought them to their knees. I haven’t watched a game of theirs in three years. Admittedly this was mostly because they sucked and I had better things to do on Sunday afternoon, but none the less its clear that they withered under the onslaught of my inaction and were forced into capitulation.
But I will be magnanimous in victory. Once they change their name, I will return without recrimination and resumes my support for their cause by having their games on in the background while I’m on the computer, provided I don’t have anywhere else I need to be, and of course assuming they stop sucking.

I mischaracterized nothing. I’m 55 but even 40 years ago i knew redskins and " Stupid Lazy N*****s were slurs that shouldn’t been allowed. You however, 10 years ago agreed wholeheartedly that they should be allowed. Therefore, i was wondering if you were perhaps a teen back then and changed your mind as you gained experience over time or if maybe you had a come to Jesus moment one day. If you don’t want to reply that is fine, you owe no explanations, i was just curious what changed your point of view.
So you still think, academically, it should be allowed?
