I found an old reel to reel tape and would like to transfer it to cassette tape. Is that possible and where would I go to do it?
The reel to reel is from 1973
It’s possible if you can locate someone or some place with reel-to-reel equipment. My best idea is to call recording studios in your area. Many of them still use reel-to-reel because the tapes are wider and can hold more tracks.
There are places that do transfers from outmoded equipment to more up-to-date stuff. Several years ago I had some 8mm (not even Super8) movies I had made of my kids as little tykes transferred to VHS. Gave them copies for Christmas that year.
This same company had the gear to do transfers from reel-to-reel to cassette, probably even to CD.
If your town is big enough, check the yellow pages for “media transfer” of “tape copying” or something along those lines.
At worst, you could buy old gear and do it yourself. Ebay would be a start for that.
