Rather than reporting a tweet about a news story about a report, you could just link to the original report which includes quite a few more details than the ones you highlighted.

I’m sorry, but as far as I can tell the arrests are still made for failing to keep court dates, not for nonpayment of debts.

Now, I think it is very wrong to apply the bail money to the debt. Once the person attends their hearing, the bail money should be returned. Somebody should raise that practice before a superior court.

You mean the court date she had because she couldn’t pay her medical bills?

I mean, sure, if you very carefully peel away the pertinent details, her imprisonment has nothing to do with her medical debt. And yet you rarely hear these stories in UHC systems…
