Listening to Bob Marley and many other reggae artists, I have noticed that they constantly mention the ancient Mesopotamian city of ** Babylon**. I really can’t think of much correlation between Jamaica and Babylon, so can anyone help?
A simple google search of [reggae babylon] yields this, which looks pretty solid. YMMV
In addition to AZCowboy’s link, in Rastafarianism, Babylon also refers to either the government of Jamaica, white people, or the US. The Babylon link doesn’t come as much out of the experiences of the Jews, as much as the book of Revelation…“Alas, Babylon…” It’s identified with the wicked place that G-d will destroy. It’s hard to understand reggae if you don’t understand Rastafarianism, because so much of reggae has Rasta roots.

Jamaica’s directly connected to Babylon by frequent train service on the Long Island Railway!
