You made the assertion. Now put up or shut up, Sparky.
I’m not the one rewriting history to claim a football player was a saint.
A man is dead, isn’t that enough? When you try to elevate his reputation, you are promoting the same things he supported with his life.
Isn’t it enough to remember a great football player? Why pretend his personal life was anything other than what it was?
Then go start a fucking Pit thread. Did you happen to notice how this started out as a thread for those that liked him and suddenly turned into this shit?
Better yet, start IM’ing Milkman. You two sound like kindred spirits.
(How the fuck Hitler got involved in this is beyond me.) :wally
What is wrong with acknowledging the truth?
Does White’s prejudice change the fact that he was a great football player?
Why the insistence on changing the facts (for example claiming that he apologized when he never did) to put the man in a better light?
My only objection is to the lies and false sainthood put on an undeserving figure. Remember the man for what he was good at, playing football, but don’t claim that his heart was full of love as a reporter on NBC did.
We lost a great football player, and a flawed man. To pretend he was anything else is to pretend his flaws were virtues.
Unfortunately, through no fault of the OP, this thread has gone south.
Rather than move it to The Pit, I’ll just close it.
