I suspect you were just joking, but make sure you take a look at the Miller You Tube clip that was linked to earlier in the thread. When Miller was funny (and when he was funny he was hands down my favorite comic around), part of the fun was the roller coaster ride of hip cultural subreferences, seeing which you got, which you didn’t and how he might take something seemingly far afield and turn it into a hilarious metaphor.
But if you look at that clip, they’ve taken his stuff and added in video and audio cues to help people with no fucking clue what he’s talking about to “get” the joke. If there was any way to make modern day Dennis Miller less funny, it was to pause every other line so that we could see a clip from Rain Man or Being There so that his present audience can go “Oh, yeah. Now I get it.”
If the audience doesn’t get it on their own, it won’t be funny when they get the educational A/V bolus.
Anyone else find it amusing that Dennis Miller was trying to paint Pelosi as stupid, and closed by saying that she was like someone who couldn’t open a ladder “his or herself.” Hisself? Yeah, that Pelosi is an idiot, you genius wordsmith you.
As for his weak attempt to give equal criticism to Hastert - yikes! Denny Hastert is fat? That’s your big comedic observation? Man, that must be why you make the big bucks. Dennis, do us here in the 'burgh all a favor and keep your unfunny Bush-blowing self far, far away. You suck. You suck more that a fluffer at a gay porn production of Godspell.
Wow. That was really, Really bad. The fox show can only look good in comparison. At least with the fox show you might be able to actually Hear the “jokes.” And come on, Michel Moore fat jokes? Whats next, a Clinton BJ joke…, whoops, spoke to soon.
I just watched that clip. I cannot believe it is genuinely meant to be funny. Is this actually a left-wing plot to discredit conservatives?
