If Diogenes could prove that the stories were made up without relying on the assumption that miracles are impossible, I would retract my objection.

As Diogenes has said, miracles are by definition impossible. If they weren’t, there wouldn’t be such a fuss over reports of them occurring.

You know it’s unlikely that the Gospel authors “made up” the miracle stories, since there is quite an overlap between them. It is much more likely that they all got the stories from a common source. And there is no reason to assume that the stories did not originate from eyewitness accounts, unless you dismiss the possibilty of miracles occuring at all, a priori.

No? Go over to Snopes and have a good read. You will find hundreds if not thousands of examples of implausible events that could have happened, are widely stated to have happened but did not happen.

Tell me again that there is no reason to assume that implausible stories did not originate from eyewitness accounts other than an assumption that the stories describe impossible events. I need a good laugh.
