Religious themed online backup services

Names for online backup services? As I have advertised in marketplace, I now have a second business running backup services similar to mozy, carbonite, etc.

My software can be easily edited to reflect any branding I would like and I am thinking about actually starting several business names themed to appeal to different market segments.

Granted I am an atheist, but the christian market is far too great a force to ignore.

something like angelbackup.com but any good name implying religious protection, shorter is better, domain name availability of course a huge plus.

I was thinking something like angelaegis.com logos a simple armored angel with a big ol kite shield or something.

Because I do not share such religious views I do not claim to understand how such iconographies might play to that community.

I figure as long as I give good service at a reasonable price nobody will really care what my actual religion is, but being perceived as religious can go far with heavily religious crowds even if you are not exactly a weekly churchgoer.

Classy.

What’s with all this angel hokum? Wouldn’t the resurrection seem to you to be a more apt metaphor for data backup?

So, there’s JC, also Lazarus, and some guy’s daughter too (and a centurion’s subordinate/lover maybe)…

Anyway, I am a weekly attendee and on the vestry of my church. When we choose service providers, we typically look for the outfit that (1) is competitive in price, and (2) looks professional/reliable. Overt religiosity would probably ping our bullshit meters.

Vaults and crypts are sort of religious things, and sort of synonymous with long term secure storage.

Religious don’t need backups. Just a few Our Father’s and Hail Mary’s and all will be OK especially if you sprinkle a little holy water on the PC and keyboard.

Jesus Saves!

In at least two redundant off-site locations.

Heaven and Hell.

To one-up this, you could call it “Jesus Saves As…”. The advantage is people will ask what’s the difference between save and save as, and you get a foot in the door to talk to them, and show off how much you know about backup.

When traveling awhile back I saw a billboard advertising the “Christ His Grace is Sufficient Mobile Home Moving Service”. I shit you not. Took a picture. So…how big are your business cards?

I am a Christian and I have to admit that if you were to play up the religious angle, my first thoughts are (a) probably no good at what you do and (b) probably over priced for the service that you are no good at.

I’m also betting that the people who would be swayed by an overtly Christian angle like this will also be the sort who will not pay for off-site backup.

Finally, of those who are swayed on this basis… if you are not a Christian, I’m betting that THEY will know this pretty quickly when they talk to you about any service and that will cause them to also walk away.

Religious themed sites are notorious for viruses. Never, ever click on one. They found out about lightning rods but they think a firewall is something Jesus makes. Don’t trust it.

I agree with this. I’m Catholic and if I was doing business with someone I really wouldn’t care what religion they were as long as they were good at what they did. Now, if I found out what religion (or lack thereof) they had naturally then I’d think nothing of it. If it seemed like that person was making sure I knew they were a Christian, I’d run the other way because I usually associate those people with charlatans and crooks.

It must work for somebody. Among the several Yellow Pages books that clutter our porch every year is The Christian Yellow Pages.
