Remember Kasey Chambers?

Yes you do, she did the song “The Captain”, played on The Sopranos. She did another song, “Don’t Talk Back”, which had these lines - “After all that I have done, I’m not half of what I’d hoped that I’d become, there is still a long way to go.”

Well, I first heard that song mid-2000s, I was mid-40s and there was still a long way to go.

Not such a long way to go now, although I hope to live another 20 years.

What the hell do I hope to become that I am not already?

That’s hard to say.
It gets tough as you near the finish line.

Many older humans have done important work well into their dotage.

Don’t give up til you’re forced to by physical health or dementia.

I don’t know the singer or the song. Sometimes lyrics are just poetic license.

Any who…60 is the new 40!

I still thought that when I was 60. A couple of years later, I found I needed wheelchair assistance to travel.

She’s still around.

Kasey Chambers - Lose Yourself (Eminem Cover) LIVE @ Civic Theatre, Newcastle AU

I just listened to Don’t Talk Back two days ago while out driving. Wonderful song. Best listened to while driving.

She came to the US to do a tour way back when and would have appeared on the late night shows which would have helped her visibility but there was a writer’s strike.
