Is there anything in this world so ungrateful as the cat you are trying to force feed. Jesus Max, I’m trying to save your life, not poison you!
I’ve been trying to clip my cat’s nails for months. He is not having any of it. Today I just sat next to him on the couch working the clippers, just so he can get used to the sound. But he knows what I’m up to. He knows.
I have another tale (heh) of cat woe. My dumber-than-dishwater cat seems to have broken her tail. She can lift about the first two inches of it away from her butt; the rest just hangs down. Given her proclivity to biting, I’m not going to push my luck to try to feel much of it. We will keep an eye on her to make sure she can use her box and keep the bassets from annoying her too much. I’m underemployed at the moment, and unemployment hasn’t kicked in yet, so I’m trying to watch my cash, but we’ll take her to the vet if she needs to go. Poor kitty.
Owww, so much gas! My abdomen is so bloated, and the gas bubbles in my neck and shoulders just won’t quit!
I hope you feel better soon!
Your name isn’t Seymour, by any chance?
You aren’t going to feel like it, but if you can force yourself to walk even a little bit, it will help. It will also help with healing. Really and truly. Your innards have been shoved this way and that during the surgery, and now they are going to let you know that they didn’t appreciate this. Plus, of course, most of it is gas from when they pumped you full of it to enable them to do the surgery.
I did go for a short walk today - that was okay. I’ll go a bit longer tomorrow. It’s always such a fine line to walk after a surgery or sickness - I always want to push hard to get better quicker, but I’ve finally learned not to push too hard.

 In your neck and shoulders?? Isn’t that the bends?
I have been summoned for jury duty next week, because, fuck my life, and when i was trying to use MapQuest and Google maps for directions I could not pick my route.
I don’t want to go on the 80/94 expressway because I am not an experienced driver and it makes me nervous. This is the second time in four years that I have been summoned.
I guess it’s kind of the same - I had a laparoscopic surgery on Friday, and I’m still having pain from the gas they used to inflate my abdomen.
Yeah, it’s gas dissolved in your blood, trying to get undissolved and expelled. I don’t know of anything that will really help, except time and gentle exercise. I wish I did know of something else.
Why the hell do moron YouTube users think people want the search results clogged up with recordings of them playing video games? I can’t find footage of the actual soccer match I want, but hey, YourALooser15 has posted 17 minutes of scintillating video of himself replaying it on his Playstation with FIFA 11. That’s just as good! Not.
I just went to let the dogs in and they came in with white spots all over their fur. There is white fluffy stuff falling out of the sky! What the HELL!

That’s it, I’m done til spring, wake me in March please.
Not exactly a rant, more of a WTF, but…
…we have an iris blooming away in our back yard. It’s November, we had sleet Saturday morning, sub-freezing temperatures Saturday and Sunday nights, and this iris - a spring-flowering plant - is happily blooming away!
I put my inability to pay attention. I have a list to type up from notes and about 200 pictures to go through. This is tedious but not hard. All I need to do is buckle down and get it done. Instead I’m all like “Oooo a shiny!” every five minutes. Come on brain! Focus!
I wish I did, too. I’m going to try going for a couple of walks today. The gas pain is better - I was able to…release a lot of it last night.
There are repeat blooming bearded iris cultivars available these days, which bloom both spring and fall. I had one blooming in my backyard until recently, despite multiple nights of freezing and sub-freezing temperatures. Even though the rebloomers are usually advertised as such, some aren’t. Mine wasn’t, so it was a nice surprise.
So there I was at the Dog Park the other day. It’s a large, fenced-in, flat area with double gates behind an arena and beside a parking lot. My dog and her “best friend” are Blue Tick Coon Hounds and FAST. I’m sure they could pace a greyhound if they wanted.
Anyway, this little girl was standing unattended between the two gates. We had no idea who her parent/guardian was because no adult was near her. She kept opening and closing the inner gate while people were coming & going - which is dangerous because sometimes the outer gate wouldn’t be closed yet and dogs could theoretically run between the gates and get out. And that’s exactly what happened. The kid, I shit you not, opened the inner gate when our dogs ran near it, let them into the space between the gates, then shut the inner gate behind them, trapping them in the space between the gates. If that outer gate wasn’t latched they would have been GONE. It happened so quickly and I nearly lost my shit.
An older lady came into the park and yelled at the kid to KEEP THE GATE CLOSED and my friend, who is a supply teacher so used to little kids (unlike me) said “YOU NEED TO FIND YOUR PARENT AND GO STAY WITH THEM!” The kid goes “NO! You’re not in charge of me! I’m old enough to be by myself! I’M SIX!!” I said “If you open this gate and a dog gets out it could get HURT and I don’t want my dog getting hurt! If you’re old enough to be by yourself you’re old enough to know to keep a gate CLOSED when dogs are running loose!” She kept lipping off to us then eventually trudged over to her mom, who had her back to the kid the whole time (like I said, we didn’t even know who her grown-up was), and the mom hauled her and their dog out and left. I felt the most sorry for the dog.
I’m all for allowing children independence, but you have to teach them how to behave in the situation they’re in. And who in their right mind doesn’t watch a 6-year-old when they’re in a place where large dogs are excited and running around? I’m just thankful that outer gate was closed. It happened so fast and there’s a busy road across the parking lot. Stupid fucking inattentive parent.
I’m glad you’re starting to recover.
I have to pit the numerous and annoying “tax relief” commercials I see/hear on radio and TV. I hate the “i’m a victim of the IRS, and needed help!” narrative they spin on these. Hey dumbasses… if you paid your fucking taxes to begin with you wouldn’t be behind and have the IRS breathing down your neck!
It’s the job of the IRS to collect taxes, if you pay your taxes, there is nothing left from them to collect…
