Remembering 09/11/2001 -- what are the lessons?

He’s a WTC CT enthusiast, as demonstrated in multiple threads.

Reviewing this thread, it has not turned into a debate.

Off to IMHO.

that when our foreign policy is “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” we shouldn’t be surprised when our new “friends” eventually don’t like us so much.

The lesson is that the U.S. should be involved in the Middle East.

Never get into a land war in Asia.

Lessons. Where to begin.

  1. Racial tensions are real and alive in the United States, because too many people lack the intellectual capacity to question FOX News/media after an event like 9/11 and targeted Muslims rather than focusing their rage on the people specifically that committed the crimes. Jesus, it reminded me of the time we rounded up the Japanese and put them in camps at times. Lesson 1 - Be more critical next time.

  2. This Islamophobia was then harvested by our government to substantiate an illegal war of aggression in Iraq based on dubious and unsubstantiated claims. Lesson 2- Don’t do that.

  3. Instead of waging an illegal war of aggression where our only support was the UK and “don’t forget Poland,” focusing on the just tactical war in Afghanistan where we had near-global support and taking out Bin Laden and his right hand men might have been a wise move. **Lesson 3- Target our defensive resources on one thing at a time. **

Vizzini committed the third classic blunder: Never enter into a contest that your enemy has designed and prepared.

There could be nothing more un-American than making war on a religion.
