Makes one wonder…
Hey scratchie? Don’t forget, never try to kill yourself in Kansas.
Well… you asked! But while we’re at it, don’t try to kill yourself in any state.
That is the-- Well, it’s not the funniest thing I’ve ever read. That’s really pathetic. I’d be pissed off if I was that woman.
This reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail*:
“I’m not quite dead yet!”
Actually, if you really did want to kill yourself, that sounds like the perfect environment. They certainly do give you lots of leeway to carry out your plans.
As a Kansas resident, it doesn’t surprise me a bit. Let me share my 911 story with you.
About 6 years ago I had a guy (not someone I dated but someone I knew) calling me late at night harrassing me, threatening to come over to my apartment and get me, threatening to come to my work, etc. I called the police twice and filed a report for phone harrassment. Both times I filed a report, an officer was sent out to my home… no problem. I got Caller ID so if he called back I would have a record of it.
At the time this was going on I lived in Manhattan and he lived in Topeka… about 50+ miles apart. One night he called andthe Caller ID showed that he was on a payphone in Manhattan. He said he was going to come to my apartment and I told him if he knocked on my door I’d put a bullet in his head and I hung up on him. About 2 minutes later his car pulled up in front of my building and he got out and just stood there, looking at the building. I called 911 and told them what was going on and they said they’d send an officer right away and I stayed on the line with the operator. About 5 minutes later the 911 operator asked me for directions to my building because the officer couldn’t find it. WTF! My apartment building was not located in bumfuck Egypt, it was in a decent neighborhood and very easy to get to. (About 4 miles from the police station actually!)
It took the cop 15 minutes to get to my apartment and the guy left about 5 minutes before the cop got there. I could’ve been dead before the damn cop found my apartment building. Sure made me feel safe.
You’re right Jack. hmmmmm. Move to Kansas? jeez is it worth it? let’s see, the ability to kill myself and have idiot firefighters not revive me if I change my mind vs. living in Kansas…
I think I’ll stay put.
Damnit! You’d better! I’m not changing my tickets to go to Kansas!
As a former resident of Kansas, I’d have to add that killing yourself there would be redundant.
As a lifetime resident of Kansas, I’d say stop trash-talking it using ad hominem attacks.
And I’m sure no one can find any instances of something like this in the OP happening in any other state…
Hmmmm This thread has me thinking:
What is the proper term for a resident of Kansas? A Kanasian?
A Kansan, I think.
As to the OP: That is really, really weird.
Yes.
Sorry, Anthracite, sometimes I see something that kicks my smart-ass instinct into high gear. I was only trying (unsuccessfully) to be kind of glibly witty, and I didn’t mean any disrespect. But my time in Junction City WAS a low point in my life (not due to anything inherently bad about Kansas, but it’s forever associated in my mind with bad times). No hard feelings, I hope.
No, I understand.
Hey. I trash talk California. I trash talk San JOse, I trash talk Rhode Island, and I trash talk California. I’m not about to stop doing Kansas just because you live there. Sorry una.
And you’re right. No instances of it anywhere else. Everywhere else the emergency response teams are perfectly trained and never make mistakes.
and now to start with the gratutitous KS jokes, just to be a real ass about it…
kidding
